Information for Providers

This section outlines the processes and procedures that providers will use to supply services under the Sensitive Claim Service contract.

Getting started

Getting started sessions give clients time to build rapport with a therapist and to make a choice about whether they would like to proceed with them. It’s also time set aside for clients to learn about how their sensitive claim will be managed and what support is available to them.

Early Supports

The purpose of early planning sessions is to identify the client’s needs so they their treatment is tailors to them, and is safe and supporting.

Short Term Support to wellbeing

Immediate support for clients who decide they need short-term early intervention, but don’t feel they’ll need longer term treatment.

Support for next steps

This is for clients who don’t meet ACC’s criteria for funded services. Ensures they receive support to find another provider funded by another agency or self-funded.

COVER AND WELLBEING CLIENT

This new service component is for clients where the provider has determined, based on the needs and presentation of the client, that the use of a Cover and Wellbeing Plan is a clinically appropriate option to establish cover and outline treatment needs. If ACC accept the claim, the client proceeds to Tailored Support to Wellbeing - Package A.

SPECIALIST COVER assessment

The Specialist Cover Assessment is used to establish cover for clients who might have more complex presentations, or who need a greater level of diagnostic assessment to accurately establish their injuries and needs. Completed by an Assessor, the actual assessment might happen in one session, or over a number of sessions. Clients will have the opportunity to have input (where appropriate) into recommendations before the report goes to ACC. The specialist cover assessment helps ACC to make a cover determination, and will make recommendations for ongoing treatment. If ACC accept the claim, the client proceeds to a Wellbeing Plan to set goals for Tailored Support to Wellbeing - Package B.

TAILORED SUPPORT TO WELLBEING PACKAGES

If a claim is accepted by ACC, clients move on to either Tailored Support to Wellbeing Package A or Package B. Designed using principles from the Massey Guidelines and extensive consultation and feedback from clients, providers and support services, the Wellbeing packages provide personalised treatment and support based on the specific needs of the client, helping them achieve the recovery goals in their Cover and Wellbeing Plan or Wellbeing Plan.

Maintaining wellbeing

These are sessions for clients who have completed their treatment, and are self-managing, but would like a check-in with their therapist. Clients will be able to go straight back to their provider to arrange appointments without needing to contact ACC.
