Skills and Experience: Over my 25 year career I have trained in several modalities, and have found myself influenced by Mindfulness-Based Therapies. I have trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Diversity Affirming Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

Cultural Experience: My cultural competence has been shaped by the work I do, and is strongly influenced by an awareness of discrimination, stigma and minority stress.

I have 15 years experience running assertive outreach services targeting at risk communities i.e. homeless, street based sex workers, and people living with HIV. While each of these communities have a distinct culture of their own, many of the people I worked with were also Māori or Pacific.
